Good for you! I hope I do the same, now that I'll have to, for family reasons as well. :)

The only positive thing about these deployments was that I started to drive because otherwise, I had no chance of managing to drop off and pick up two small children from school and daycare. ( I had a driving licence for about 5 years before that but driving wasn’t my priority.)
