I’m Going on a Monster Hunt
And I’m not scared
I can’t say ‘no’ to a horror challenge. Spending all my youth reading Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Ira Levin, Edgar Allan Poe, and countless other crazy heads, I must admit that part of their craziness still lurks in the backyard of my mind. If I walk in there, who knows what I can find?
Well…let’s see.
1.Slasher or Supernatural?
As much as I love thrillers, I’ll dump them any time for a good sci-fi. So, no, I won’t enjoy a killer lurking in the woods with their bloody knife as immensely as I will enjoy a gaunt cockroach laying an egg in your kitchen while you’re blissfully asleep. The cockroach expects you to boil the egg the next morning and eat it.
You don’t need to look at your eggs with suspicion now.
2. Zombies or Cannibals?
Zombies are a trite subject, but there was a book on this theme that I really liked. It’s called ‘Warm Bodies’ by Isaak Marion. It gives zombies feelings and a chance to become humans again. I sympathized with the main character, a zombie named R, to such a degree that I could imagine myself sitting next to him, taking his decaying hand in mine.
If there’s a book, or a movie, about kind-hearted cannibals, I’m all ears.
