For this reason, the flag of the Republic was originally orange, white, and blue. Only after 1630 was it changed to the same red, white, and blue colours as the current Dutch flag, because the orange tended to fade quickly. Even today, many things in the Netherlands, including the uniforms of the Netherlands national football team, are orange.
