The French claim to have invented the crêpe by “accident.” One day, back in medieval times, a mother spilled porridge on a stovetop, and as it spread, it cooked into a thin, cakey-crispy-at-the-edges sheet. From there, it evolved intentionally, first with buckwheat and later to fine white flour.
