This topic is so touchy for us, Bulgarians, as Cyrillic alphabet was first used in Bulgaria - the guy who asked the Greeks to send someone to invent a new alphabet that will better correspond to the sounds of our language, was actually the Bulgarian king Boris I. later on, it was spread to other lands. Of course, nobody knows these details now and a lot of Bulgarians are horribly annoyed when people call the Cyrillic the Russian alphabet. I'm not one of those Bulgarians, I find all this hilarious. Long live the Russians who keep this alphabet alive, otherwise it would have been long dead, as we, Bulgarians, would have adopted the Latin alphabet for sure. :)))
